Belinda currently lives in Tahunanui, where she and her husband run a motel, aided and abetted by their two retired racing greyhounds.
She has a deep love of nature and a passion for the environment, a background in theology and spirituality, and a lifelong fascination with mythology and folklore, all of which inform her writing, especially her Silvana Chronicles, which she (currently) describes as 'ecological mythopoetic fiction'. The third novel in that series, Silvana – Restoration, was published in 2023. Besides her novels, she has a children’s book A Handful of Eggs, and several short stories – including the Ian St. James prize-winning Bronwen’s Dowry – in various anthologies. |
Belinda has been a secondary school teacher in England, a writer in residence for a theatre-in-education company in Ireland, a retreat facilitator and a freelance editor (among other things). Having come on holiday to New Zealand seventeen years ago, and forgotten to go back, it is fairly safe to say she is here to stay.
