Linda Jane writes children's picture books, academic articles, personal essays, and shopping lists. Her first book, Things in the Sea are Touching Me! (and its Te Reo version - Ngā Mea Kei Rō Moana, E Whakapā Mai Ana!), was published by Scholastic in 2019. It was shortlisted for best picture book in the 2019 NZCYA Book Awards and 2020 NZ Booklovers Award, and was a 2020 Storylines Notable Book. She is the new lead editor for children's and young adult literature website The Sapling.
Linda Jane was born in Singapore, grew up in Tāmaki Makaurau, and now lives in Mohua/Golden Bay with her family and three chickens. Her background is in outdoor and environmental education in New Zealand and New Hampshire, USA. Her heart has many homes. She spends her time working in a library, exploring the outdoors, and just trying to keep afloat in TUP (These Unprecedented Times). Linda Jane’s second book, Kororā and the Sushi Shop, was published by Scholastic in July 2022 and shortlisted for the 2023 NZ Booklovers Award. Stranded (Bateman) was published in 2023 and was shortlisted for the Charlotte and Wilbur Award for Compassion for Animals. |
