Our resources of finances and time are limited, but within these limits we work to:
1) Support and promote the writing activities of writers and writers’ groups in the craft and business of writing.
2) Maintain a healthy financial status for the branch and ensure effective governance.
3) Uphold the goals, and promote and increase the membership and diversity, of membership of the NZSA

Our Chair is a writer and editor, who coordinates writer's workshops and the Nelson Arts Festival’s literary programme, Pukapuka Talks.
